Zachary Glaser, a native of Salem, Oregon, serves as Assistant Director of Band at Walsh Middle School in Round Rock, Texas. Before joining the Walsh Band family, Zachary served as Assistant Director of Bands at Sprague High School and West Salem High School.
Zachary holds a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance from Rice University. During his time at Rice, he had the privilege of performing in the prestigious Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Larry Rachleff, as well as numerous chamber music groups in Houston.
He furthered his education at the University of Oregon, earning a Master of Music in Wind Conducting Performance.
Throughout his career, Zachary has taught a diverse range of ensembles and programs, spanning middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. His experience includes leading concert bands, jazz ensembles, chamber groups, and marching bands, as well as teaching conducting and leadership courses, including a tenure as a faculty member at the Metro-Capitol Leadership Academy in Salem, Oregon.
Zachary has developed his conducting skills through participation in conducting symposia and masterclasses led by renowned conductors, including Professor Jerry Junkin, Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Dr. Cynthia Johnston Turner, Professor Steven Davis, Dr. David Thornton, Dr. Arris Golden, and Dr. Eric Leung.
His musical and educational philosophies have been largely shaped by his mentors, including Allen Barnhill, Dr. Dennis Llinás, Jerry Hou, Todd Zimbelman, and Carson Keeble.
As he begins his tenure at Walsh Middle School, Zachary is excited to inspire and nurture the musical talents of his students, fostering a love of music that will last a lifetime.
In his leisure time, Zachary enjoys reading, cooking, tending to his house plant collection, and discovering new hiking trails.
