"The Workshop - a free hub to connect your students with the wonderful musicians of the University of Oregon Wind Ensemble. In each episode, you will find private lesson videos for each instrument and the conductor focused on a specific piece of the wind repertoire. Feel free to use, share, and grow from this resource that connects us all through music."
"While I love exploring new music, as an educator I am constantly reminded that in order to understand how we view music for winds today it is important to study and learn where our craft came from, and how it developed over time. This text book is meant to help with just that, by being an affordable resource that could be used in conjunction with a collegiate course on wind literature. The twelve chapters here explore music written for winds from as early as 1551 through 2022, when the bulk of this document was written."

"The Habits of Musicianship is an introductory method book for the first year of instrumental class instruction. Appropriate for use in middle school beginning band classes and in college instrumental techniques classes, the book embodies an approach to music learning that is in many ways unique. We are distributing the method free of charge through this web site; and although we retain the copyrights to the materials, teachers have blanket permission to make unlimited copies for themselves and for their own students."

This is a YouTube Playlist I have compiled containing all the pieces covered in my Wind Repertoire classes. It is very similar to A Survey of Wind Literature, however, it does not contain the same research and commentary.
"Wind chamber music has become an important part of the contemporary wind band program during the past half century, and now a most complete reference text has been written to provide any and all necessary information concerning repertoire. Winther lists over 500 works by instrumentation and provides guidance on timings, difficulty level, publisher sources, available recordings and his own insight into rehearsing and programming each individual work. This book will soon be required reading for every wind conductor and performer!"

In this series of videos, Artist and Educator STEVE HOUGHTON will discuss rhythm section concepts within the big band setting. Designed for the jazz educator and student alike, Steve will cover many of the standard jazz styles (such as swing, shuffle, rock, ballads and Latin) and will detail the roles of each of the rhythm section players within those styles.

A list of Jazz Ensemble Repertoire ranging from Very Easy to Medium. This list includes: Classics, Adaptations of Classics, Blues and Shuffles, Swing, Ballads, Latin, and Funk and Rock. Repertoire beyond Medium is not cataloged as you shouldn't need a list for those pieces.
This page is organized by category and each piece has a link to a recording or publisher page.
